Turkey's leading institution in oil sector, Petrol Ofisi A.Ş. was founded in 1941 and became a joint stock company in 1983. The company is engaged in local and international procurement, distribution, storage and sale of oil; sale of refinery by-products; production and blending of all kinds of lubricants, greases and their by-products, establishment of necessary facilities for production, blending, retailing, wholesaling, and import or export thereof.

The company entered a period of transformation in the aftermath of its privatization in 2000. It has built a permanent sales and marketing force committed to customer-focus; launched its "Silver Project" in order to bring certain technical and visual standards to Petrol Ofisi filling stations.

Doğan Holding and Central Europe's leading oil and gas company, OMV formed a partnership on Petrol Ofisi in May 2006, which not only enhanced Petrol Ofisi’s market leading position in terms of oil distribution in Turkey but also happened to be its first step to become a regional player.

Targeting to become an energy company and a regional power rather than a mere oil distributor, Petrol Ofisi plans to start operations in refining in Turkey and exploration and extraction in neighboring countries. With its high-quality products, the Company aims to increase its current market share, expand into foreign markets in retail, navigation, aviation and lubricant sectors.

On various criteria including sales volume, market share, extensive station network, number of customers, total turnover and net profit, Petrol Ofisi was the biggest oil distribution company of Turkey in 2007. Erk Petrol

The Company was established to engage in the procurement and sale of fuel-oil, petroleum products, LPG and other similar products within and outside of Turkey; to arrange for the distribution and storage thereof; to sell refinery by-products; to produce and blend all kinds of lubricants and greases and their by-products; to set up the necessary facilities for production and blending; to engage in the retail and wholesale, import and export thereof.

Kıbrıs Türk Petrolleri (K-Pet)

K-Pet has been providing oil to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus since 1974, and is the market leader in fuel distribution and lubricants sector with its 84 gas stations, 1 fuel terminal, 1 LPG terminal, 1 air supply unit and 1 lubricant plant.

Petrol Ofisi Gaz İletim (POGI)

The Company was established to undertake commercial activities in the natural gas market within and/or outside Turkey; to actively promote the use of natural gas; to undertake the transmission, filling, transportation, and delivery of liquefied natural gas, compressed natural gas and natural gas within and/or outside Turkey; to prepare projects for, construct and operate carrying devices and facilities for the performance of these activities; to conclude delivery and transportation agreements with other companies engaged in the natural gas market in Turkey; to transport the natural gas it receives with transportation vehicles; to make the necessary arrangements for the storage and modulation of such products.

Petrol Ofisi Oil Financing

The Company was established in mid-2004 in the Cayman Islands to act as a private financial organization to issue bonds for investors in international markets.

The Company was established in 2002 in the Netherlands to develop financing opportunities in international financial markets.

Petrol Ofisi Alternatif Yakıtlar (POAY)

The Company was established to operate in natural gas market in and/or outside Turkey, to actively promote the use of natural gas; to supply natural gas, liquefied natural gas within or outside Turkey, to provide the accomodation of these products’ promotion, sales, distribution, storage and usage within and/or outside Turkey.

Petrol Ofisi Akdeniz Rafinerisi (POAR)

The Company was formed in 2007 to establish a refinery with a processing capacity of 10 million tonnes per year in Yumurtalık/Adana region.

Petrol Ofisi Georgia

The Company was established to supply, store and distribute oil products within and/or outside Turkey and to arrange for the sales to Georgia thereof.


Electricity Distribution and Production Investments

Doğan Holding has defined electricity sector as one of its key investment areas. It is involved with electricity trade and production from several resources and follows the privatizations of Turkey's electricity distribution and works on electricity generation projects.

In 2007, Doğan Holding acquired 25% share in the company which obtained clearance for generation license for the Aslancık Dam and HEPP Project; and 33% stake in the company which received generation license for the Boyabat Dam and HEPP Project. These dams are projected to have an installed capacity of 120 MW and 510 MW, respectively; and the construction of them will begin in 2008. Boyabat project has started and Aslancık project is planned to begin in 2008.

Doğan Holding also founded D-Tes electricity wholesale trade company to realize the electricity trade potential that will arise upon the market liberalization. Then it transferred shares to Unit, Doğuş and Anadolu Groups, each having 25% of ownership. These have been the works laying the foundation for Doğan Holding to become an important actor in the electricity sector.

In addition, Doğan Holding has an interest in wind and renewable energy production.

In order to evaluate the electricity distribution and production projects, Doğan Holding is involved in several consortiums and closely monitors opportunities in Turkey and in the region for privatizations, electricity market liberalization, improving the investment environment and decreasing the dependence on foreign sources for energy.
