Begüm Doğan Faralyalı received her bachelor’s degree in Economics and Philosophy from London School of Economics (UK) and earned her MBA degree from Stanford University (USA).

She started her professional career as a consultant at Arthur Andersen NY office and moved to London Office of Monitor Group, where she worked as a consultant for restructuring European media and technology companies.

From 2004, she hold different positions at Doğan Media Group. Starting from 2007, she led the startup process of Kanal D Romania a national entertainment channel in Romanian that is one of the top 3 channels in Romania. She became the CEO of Star TV in 2009 and became the President of Doğan TV Holding that contained two national entertainment channels, a news channel, radios and a production company.

Begüm Doğan Faralyalı became the Chairwoman of Doğan Holding on January 2012 which is a publicly traded company with a group of companies in energy, retail, tourism, real estate development, media and industry. She is the President of Doğan Burda Magazine Group and Doğan Egmont Publishing Group and Kanal D Romania.

She is on the Advisory Board of Graduate School of Business (GSB) at Stanford University. She is the founder and active spokesperson of the “Common Values Movement” in Turkey and a voluntary ambassador for a “Values Driven Society”. She is also a board member of the trustees of World Wild Fund (WWF), the dream partner of Young Guru Academy (YGA), a non-profit organization working with young social entrepreneurs and a member of the advisory board of UNDP Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development.

She is married with two children.

As the Chairwoman of the Group, Hanzade Doğan Boyner continues to lead the digital transformation of Turkey through its Group companies.

Beyond her entrepreneurial accomplishments, Mrs. Doğan Boyner has had vast experience in leading established Turkish companies across industries as Vice Chairwoman of Doğan Holding and Chairwoman of Doğan Media Group. Mrs. Doğan Boyner currently also serves as the Chairwoman of Aydın Doğan Foundation, which oversees Group’s philanthropic activities.

Mrs.Doğan Boyner is actively involved in various non-profit, business and trade organizations. She is the founding member and Vice Chairwoman of Global Relations Forum, serves as the Vice President of World Association of Newspapers and is a member of the Brookings Institute Board of Trustees.

As a philanthropist, Hanzade Doğan Boyner has established and continues to lead the award-winning and government backed “Dad Send Me To School” campaign that aims to eliminate economic and cultural barriers in young female education across Turkey. In the framework of the project, which aims to eliminate obstacles of education impacting young girls, 50,000 girls were provided with scholarships and 33 girls' dorms were built.

Mrs. Doğan Boyner who is recognized many times as the “Business Woman of the Year” by prominent universities, institutions in Turkey, is a graduate of London School of Economics and has received her MBA from Columbia University where she is a member and serves as Board of Overseers at the Columbia Business School.

Arzuhan DOĞAN YALÇINDAĞ | Doğan Holding

Since the beginning of her professional life, Arzuhan Doğan Yalçındağ has been involved in initiating new projects. In 1990 while working with Milpa she brought the German mail order company, Quelle, to Turkey and headed the company until 1993. In 1994, she took part in the establishment of Alternatifbank and served as a board member. A year later, she became the CFO of Milliyet Magazine Group. She joined Kanal D in 1996 and was in charge of various departments.

One of her major accomplishments was the launching of CNN Turk in 2000, which was the result of the negotiations she initiated in 1999 with Time Warner Group. In 2005, she became the CEO of Doğan TV Holding, the parent company of Kanal D, CNN Turk, DMC, D Productions, D-Smart satellite platform and radio concerns.

In 2007, she was elected as the first female President of the country’s leading business organization, TUSİAD - Turkish Industry and Business Association, in the organization’s 40 year-history. She held this post until 2010, and then moved to become a member of the Council of Presidents of the Association’. She has been also serving as the Vice President of High Advisory Council.

After leaving post at TUSİAD, she took over the chair of Doğan Holding from her father, the founder of the company, started as the first member in the second generation of the family to lead the organization.

She is one of the founding board members of Aydın Doğan Foundation, established in 1996 and served as the Chairperson between 2010 and 2011. The then Foreign Minister, former President Abdullah Gül, appointed her as an honorary ambassador of Turkey to EU; with this capacity Arzuhan Doğan Yalçındağ launched “Women’s Initiative for Turkey in the EU”. She is among the founding members of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey - KAGIDER; she was also selected a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. She assumed duties in the Board of Directors of Education Volunteers Foundation of Turkey (TEGV). She has been among the founding members of Turkish American Businessmen Association (TABA) and assumed duties in the Board of Directors.

Again, she was one of the founders of the Turkish Third Sector Foundation - TÜSEV, and has been a founder and a board member of Istanbul Modern Art Museum since January 2004. Arzuhan Doğan Yalçındağ is a member of Vodafone Turkey Foundation Advisory Board and the Board of Directors of American Turkish Society. She was serving at the advisory board at Expo 2015 Milano. She was awarded the title of Commander of Italy’s Star Order (Commendatore dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia) in 2009. She is a member of World Economic Forum’s Industry Partner of Media, Entertainment and Information (MEI) Executive Board, member of Board of Trustees at The Paley Center for Media and also a member of Directors’ Comittee of International Academy of Television, Arts&Sciences.

Vuslat Doğan Sabancı has been the Board Member of Hürriyet since June 2017. She graduated from Bilkent University, Department of Economics and received her Master’s degree from Columbia University in New York, in the field of International Media and Communications.

She was the Chairwoman of the Executive Board between 2004 and 2010 and Chairwoman of the Board between 2010 and 2017.

Vuslat Doğan Sabancı ensured Hürriyet’s position as a major player within the emerging media in Turkey through investing in digital publishing and services. hurriyet.com.tr became the most visited media website in Europe. Hürriyet online carries out its activities in the field of classified ads with hurriyetemlak.com, hurriyetoto.com and yenibiris.com, in the field of deal websites with yakala.co.

Investing in human rights and particularly in gender equality matters in Hürriyet, Vuslat Doğan Sabancı became the strong voice in this field in Turkey. As a result of “No! to Domestic Violence” campaign initiated by her, a law was enacted in this field after eight years. With “The Rightful Women Platform” that she established before 2011 General Elections, assembling all non-governmental organizations - carrying out activities concerning women matters in Turkey-under the same roof, she created a pressure platform to ensure that more women could be elected for the parliament. After 2011 elections, the number of female deputies increased from 48 to 78. Apart from these, Vuslat Doğan Sabancı carries out several activities in the name of giving women their rightful place in both social life and economy. The microloan project for women, along with similar efforts, constitute examples of such projects. (Social Responsibility Projects)

Vuslat Doğan Sabancı joined Hürriyet in 1996 as a Vice President in charge of advertisements and promoted to the position of Vice President of Marketing Operations Group. Her responsibilities in Hürriyet included marketing, sales, human resources and information technologies (IT).

Before joining Hürriyet, Doğan Sabancı worked at the Editorial Department of The New York Times and later at The Wall Street Journal, where she was instrumental in the formation of the Asian Business World News Channel and the paper’s Latin America edition.

Born in 1971, Vuslat Sabancı is married with two children. She is fluent in English.

Vuslat Sabancı is a lifetime honorary member of the International Press Institute (IPI), where she served as a Board Member for eight years.

Vuslat Doğan Sabancı actively assumes duties at Endeavor Turkey - an international non-governmental organization (NGO) established with the purpose of determining and supporting entrepreneurs - and serves as a Board Member since its establishment in 2006.

Executive Director

Çağlar Göğüş has earned his B.Sc. degree in Business Administration at Bilkent University in Turkey, and his MBA degree at University of Florida, and he began his professional career in 1996 as a Senior Analyst at Coopers & Lybrand (current PwC). Following his duties as Senior Analyst and consultant at Arthur Andersen and AT Kearney, in 2000, he joined the Peppers & Rogers Group. Attaining international partnership of the Peppers & Rogers later on, and assuming his duties as the General Manager in charge of all regions for after sales services, Göğüş played an important role in Peppers&Rogers’ growth in EMEA region as well as other regions. He has gained expertise particularly in strategic growth and transformation through his consultancy efforts for over fifty major companies and regulatory authorities across a wide geography. He attained vast experience in the new economy world as well as in classic economy.

Çağlar Göğüş joined the Doğan Group in 2015 as an Independent Board Member at Hürriyet Gazetecilik. After having assumed this duty for one year, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Hürriyet Gazetecilik for over two years. During his term, he carried out important projects including digital transformation, efficiency, profitability, redefining business processes, and Hürriyet Emlak (Hürriyet Real Estate and Properties) attaining a corporate character.

İmre BARMANBEK | Doğan Holding

Born in 1942, İmre Barmanbek graduated from Ankara University, School of Political Sciences with a BSc degree in Economics and Finance. Her career began as an Assistant Accountancy Specialist in the Board of Accountancy Specialists of Finance Ministry, then followed by a promotion to Accountancy Specialist. Between 1969 and 1972, she worked at the State Planning Organization as a State Planning Specialist and then, she returned to Finance Ministry. Between 1975-1977, she became a member of the Tax Appeals Commission of Finance Ministry.

In the aftermath of her successful career at the Ministry of Finance, she resigned and started her private sector career. İmre Barmanbek assumed the position of Finance Manager, for the joint venture company between Koç & Doğan Group’s, Doğuş Akü. She soon became General Manager of the company. Following this success, İmre Barmanbek assumed the position of Financial Coordinator for Doğan Holding and became CFO in 1998. Between 1999 and 2003, she respectively worked as CEO and Executive Director of Board of Directors.

Due to her dynamic management style and her focus on value added enhancements to Doğan Holding, she was acclaimed with the “Best Woman Manager of the Year” award in Turkey by Dünya Gazette in 2001. The international edition of prestigious Fortune Magazine recognized her “33rd Most Powerful Women of Bussiness” in 2001 and “22nd Most Powerful Women” in 2002. In this period, FORBES listed her amongst “Most Influential 100 Bussiness Women”. İmre Barmanbek has served as the Vice President of Doğan Holding Board of Directors since the beginning of 2003, and Board Member since August 2012.

Upon completing his high school education at the Robert College in Istanbul, Dr. Vural Akışık finished his undergraduate study at the Department of Economics at the Middle East Technical University, before completing his MSc degree in mathematics at the same university. He completed his doctorate in mathematical statistics at the University of California, Berkeley.

He worked as an academician at the Middle East Technical University, and the University of California, Berkeley. After starting his professional career at Pamukbank, Akışık was appointed as the CEO of Interbank in 1984. In 1988, he was among the founding shareholders of the Turkish Merchant Bank, the first investment bank in Turkey, and he served as the Chairman and the CEO of the bank. In 1997, he was appointed as the CEO of Dışbank. In 2001, he was invited to serve as the chairman of the Public Banks Joint Board of Directors on a special mission to restructure the state banks. During the course of this task, he successfully completed the organisational and financial restructuring efforts, and returned to Dışbank to continue with his position as the Chairman. He also served as the Chairman of Petrol Ofisi, Executive Board Member and Vice Persident of Doğan Holding.

As of 28.02.2009, Dr. Akışık left his duty as the Vice Chairman of Doğan Şirketler Grubu Holding A.Ş., and furthermore in the past he has served as the Chairman of the Turkish-American Business Council; Member of the High Advisory Board of TÜSİAD; Board Member at Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV); Member of the Board of Trustees of the Malatya Education Foundation, and the Founding Member of Istanbul Education Foundation.

Born in Tire in 1956, Hacı Ahmet Kılıçoğlu received his undergraduate degree in economy in 1977, and his graduate degree in 1978 at the University of Essex, the UK. He began his career in 1979 with the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Continuing his career with the Türkiye İş Bankası and the United Nations Development Program, Kılıçoğlu served as the General Manager of Türk Eximbank between 1998 and 2010. Kılıçoğlu, who has also served as the Head of the Berne Union, and the Advisor to the Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank, is currently serving as the member of the board of directors at some private sector entities.

After earning a BS degree in Business Administration from Middle East Technical University, Faik Açıkalın began his banking career in 1987 as a Management Trainee at Interbank. He subsequently worked in various positions including Internal Auditor, Relationship Manager, Branch Manager and Marketing Manager at Interbank, Marmarabank, Kentbank, Finansbank and Demirbank. In May 1998, he joined Dışbank (which was later renamed Fortis following its acquisition by the eponymous international finance group) as Executive Vice President. Later that year, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) responsible for the coordination and communication between the Board of Directors and business units. He also assumed the position as a Member of the Credit Committee. In June 1999, Açıkalın was appointed as Deputy CEO and member of the Board of Directors. In December 2000, he became CEO of Dışbank. Following the acquisition of the majority shares of Dışbank by Fortis in July 2005, he continued to serve as CEO of the bankwhen it was renamed Fortisbank and was appointed member of the Fortis Global Management Committee and Fortis Global Retail Management Team. In October 2007, he resigned from his duties at Fortisbank and became CEO at Turkey’s largest newsprint media holding company, Doğan Gazetecilik. In April 2009, Açıkalın was appointed as Executive Director of Yapı Kredi’s Board of Directors and was also appointed as Chairman of the Executive Committee. Serving as Yapı Kredi’s CEO since May 2009, in addition to his current role, in 2010 Açıkalın was also appointed as CEO of Koç Financial Services. Also as of August 2011, Açıkalın became the President of Koç Holding’s Banking and Insurance Group. At the same time, Açıkalın serves as Chairman of Yapı Kredi Malta, Yapı Kredi Invest, Yapı Kredi Leasing, Yapı Kredi Factoring, Yapı Kredi Bank Nederland, Yapı Kredi Bank Azerbaijan, Yapı Kredi Bank Moscow, Yapı Kredi Koray Real Estate Investment Trust, Koç Finance, as Vice Chairman of Banque de Commerce et de Placements S.A. and Allianz Yaşam ve Emeklilik and as Director of the Banks Association of Turkey.As of 2017 year-end Açıkalın lefthis duties at Koç Holding, YKB and its subsidiaries

Born in Istanbul in 1959, Ahmet Toksoy received his BA from the Department of Finance, Faculty of Management, of Istanbul University in 1981. He assigned as a Tax Inspector at the Ministry of Finance, with the highest degree of his term in 1987. After working as an auditor at the Ministry of Finance between 1984 and 1989, he joined Hürriyet Holding as a member of the Supervisory Board. He was appointed Assistant Finance Manager of Hürriyet Newspaper between 1990 and 1991 and as Finance Manager between 1991 and 1995. Toksoy worked as Certified Public Accountant at Aktif Denetim Yeminli Mali Müşavirlik for the following three years.

After serving as Chief Financial Officier (CFO) for 11 years at Hürriyet newspaper, was began in 1998, he was appointed as the President of Audit and Risk Management at Doğan Holding at 2010. He served as Chairman of Hürriyet Gazetecilik ve Matbaacılık A.Ş. and Board Member of Doğan TV Holding A.Ş. and Doğan Gazetecilik A.Ş. He is currently the Chairman of Doğan Enerji Yatırımlar Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., Suzuki Motorlu Araçlar Pazarlama A.Ş. and D Gayrimenkul Yatırımları ve Ticaret A.Ş. He serves as Chief Financial Officier (CFO) and member of the Executive Committee of Doğan Şirketler Grubu Holding A.Ş. since September 2011.

Mehmet Can KARABAĞ | Doğan Holding

Born in 1972, Mehmet Can Karabağ is a graduate of TED Ankara College, and Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Bilkent University. Having started his career in 1994 as an expert auditor with Arthur Andersen, Karabağ completed his MBA in Business Administrations at UCLA. After starting to work as the Strategic Planning and Business Development Director with Kıraça Holding in 1998, Mehmet Can Karabağ served as the General Manager and the Board Member at Karsan Otomotiv Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. between 2000 and 2008. Having also served as the Board Member at Kıraça Holding and its various affiliates during the same term, Karabağ was the founding partner and the Vice Chairman of Sirena Marine, the manufacturer and the Turkish distributor of Azimut motor yachts between 2006 and 2008. Since 2008 Mehmet Can Karabağ works as an investor, entrepreneur, consultant, and mediator in various fields including real estate development, retail, food, automotive, and industries in his own companies. Karabağ is married and has one child.

Serving as a consultant with the Doğan Holding Board of Directors since 2015, and having led the successful strategic and financial transformation of D&R, Çelik Halat and Ditaş, Mehmet Can Karabağ continues to function as Member of the Board with Doğan Şirketler Grubu Holding A.Ş., in addition to his role as the Chairman of industry, tourism, and real estate companies under Doğan Holding, and the Vice Chairman of Kanal D Romania.
Agah UĞUR | Doğan Holding


Independent Board Member

Agah Ugur was born in 1957 in Istanbul, Turkey.
Studied industrial engineering at the University of Birmingham, UK then qualified as a chartered accountant in England in 1985.
He worked in accountancy, consulting and banking firms in England and Turkey before joining Borusan Group in 1989 as its CFO. He worked as a Group CEO between 2001-2019 and still he is the advisor to the Chairman and board member of the Board of Borusan Holding.
Agah held numerous board and advisory board positions in NGO’s. Currently he is a member of TUSIAD’s High Advisory Council, board member of Dogan Holding AS & Turkish American Business Council, member of the board of Trustees of Sabanci University, member of the advisory council of Bahçeşehir University and member of the advisory board of Columbia University Istanbul Global Center.
He is an investor in tech start-ups.
Married with two daughters; he is also an art collector.
