DOHOL 2015 Annual Report receives reward from LACP

Doğan Holding’s 2015 annual report, has won the “Gold” award in the “Conglomerates” category at the League of American Communications Professionals, or LACP’s, “2015 Vision Awards” Competition organized for the fifteenth time. Doğan Holding’s 2015 Annual Report has also been ranked among the “Top 80 Annual Reports in the Europe/Middle East/Africa Region” and “Top 25 Turkish Annual Reports of 2015” on the country category.

A “Women Friendly Companies” award ceremony was held at the Uludağ Economy Summit, the 4th of which was held this year by the Capital and Ekonomist Magazines. During the award ceremony, Doğan TV Group received the “Group with the Highest Number of Women Executives” award. Speaking at the ceremony, Rauf Ateş, the Editor in Chief of the Capital and Ekonomist Magazines, said women need to have a bigger presence in the business world.

Rauf Ateş said, “For 2 years now, we are conducting a study on companies that practice positive discrimination for women. We wanted to award these companies this year. The percentage of the women’s participation in the work force has barely changed in the last decade. The percentage which was 26.6 per cent in 2003 could only increase to 30.8 per cent in 2013. As per the Gender Gap Index, we rank 127th among 138 countries in terms of women’s participation in economy. There are nevertheless companies that invest in female employees.”

At the inaugural European Corporate Social Responsibility Awards Program, organized in 2013 by the European Commission for Corporate Social Responsibility Communication under the theme “Cooperation, Innovation, and Influence”, Doğan Organic Products was awarded in the program’s SME category.

Supported by the Turkish Corporate Social Responsibility Association, 62 projects from 50 Turkish companies competed in the Europe-wide contest. Of the initial 62 projects, 26 were shortlisted after a preliminary review by a jury consisting of Ege Erkoçak, Head of the Directorate of Political Affairs -- Department of the Ministry for EU Affairs; Melsa Ararat, a Faculty Member at Sabancı University; Sadrettin Karahocagil, Head of the Southeast Anatolia Project (GAP) Administration; and Serdar Dinler, Chairman of the Turkish Corporate Social Responsibility Association and a Member of the CSR Europe Board of Directors. Among the shortlisted projects, Doğan Organic Products’ Kelkit Venture was awarded first place in the SME category.

The Honorary Chairman Aydın Doğan laid the foundations of this project to ensure the sustainable development of Kelkit in 2002, where he was born and raised. Doğan Organic Products created a platform consisting of farmers, public entities,

WAN Recognizes Hürriyet Kampüs with Youth Newspaper Award
Hürriyet Kampüs, Turkey’s first university newspaper, received a “Best Youth Newspaper” award from WAN-IFRA -- the World Association of Newspapers

The World Young Reader Prizes, given out since 1998 by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN IFRA), have been announced -- and Hürriyet Kampüs was recognized with an award in the Editorial category.

Editors and journalists from around the world attended the awards ceremony in Warsaw, Poland, held December 2 - 4. During the event, at which many breakout sessions and workshops were held, the award-winning projects were introduced to attendees via presentations. For its presentation, Hürriyet Kampüs, Turkey’s first university newspaper, introduced its story and spoke of its origins and its successful collaboration with Turkish students.

Hürriyet KAMPÜS
From the first day it appeared on university campuses in March 2010 to its 500th edition Hürriyet Kampüs has been Turkey’s sole university newspaper. Its content is created by university students and the paper is sold on campuses by university students to university students five days a week, excluding Saturdays and Sundays.

WAN-IFRA represents 18,000 publications
The World Association of Newspapers (WAN-IFRA) is a global organization representing over 18,000 publications, 15,000 websites and 3,000 companies from 120 countries. Its objective is to be the main partner of newspapers, chiefly their employees, and to defend freedom of the press, high-quality journalism and editorial integrity.
